About the role

  • Project Controls Analyst managing financial controls for AltaLink’s electricity transmission projects. Supporting estimates, forecasts, budgets, invoices, SAP projects, and governance across the DA portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and ensure financial project controls for estimates, forecasts, billings, and project close-out
  • Maintain expertise in core controls processes, systems, and financial transactions for estimating, forecasting, and cost performance
  • Ensure adherence to processes and AltaLink standards and policies, including coaching PCA I employees
  • Coordinate annual capital and operating budgets
  • Align cost estimates and forecasts with schedules by interfacing with Project Managers, schedulers, and EPCM service providers
  • Assess change notices against AltaLink procedures and regulatory rules at project and program levels
  • Support Project Managers and the PMO with cost estimates and change orders for stakeholder and customer approval
  • Validate and resolve discrepancies in EPC project invoices
  • Prepare and ensure the integrity of capital cost reports, accruals, and forecasts
  • Set up and maintain projects in SAP according to PMO standards
  • Ensure change control management follows AltaLink procedures
  • Provide quality assurance and adherence to corporate Project Controls procedures and practices
  • Support project cost management, governance, deliverables, schedules, and financial objectives across the DA portfolio

Requirements

  • Post Secondary Degree or related combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience managing up to $100M and/or 10 complex projects
  • Proven ability and experience in the stated responsibilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and SAP Finance, Controlling, Project Systems, Materials Management, and Plant Maintenance modules
  • Knowledge of Primavera (P6) is an asset
  • Sound knowledge of project management practices and work and resource planning, budgeting, monitoring, analysis, and reporting
  • Knowledge of engineering design practices, procurement, and construction is an asset
  • Experience preparing monthly status reports for project and program reviews and providing feedback to PMs and leadership
  • Experience preparing detailed forecasts supporting annual capital and operating budgets
  • Strong analytical, communication, teamwork, decision-making, detail-oriented, and adaptability/change-management skills
  • Effective communication skills for interfacing with team members and customers
  • Proven track record of good attendance and performance
