About the role
- Electrical Engineer designing power, shore power, and control systems for Arcadis port and marine infrastructure projects. Supporting multidisciplinary delivery from feasibility through commissioning and operations.
Responsibilities
- Plan, design, coordinate, and deliver electrical systems for port, harbour, marine terminal, ferry, container, bulk handling, and waterfront infrastructure projects
- Design medium- and low-voltage power distribution, shore power and vessel utility connections, lighting, grounding and bonding, backup power and UPS systems, communications, controls, and related electrical infrastructure
- Contribute across feasibility, concept, preliminary design, detailed design, procurement, construction support, commissioning, and operational improvement phases
- Prepare and review technical reports, engineering calculations, design drawings, specifications, equipment layouts, cable routing, load studies, short-circuit studies, coordination studies, and project documentation
- Apply ports, marine, and electrical engineering standards and best practices
- Identify technical issues, constructability considerations, project risks, and improvement opportunities
- Coordinate with civil, structural, geotechnical, coastal, mechanical, process, automation, environmental, and operations disciplines
- Coordinate with clients, port authorities, terminal operators, vessel operators, contractors, utilities, regulatory bodies, and project partners
- Support scope, schedule, budget, quality, health and safety, sustainability, and resilience objectives
- Participate in site visits, marine facility inspections, field investigations, condition assessments, construction support, commissioning support, and troubleshooting
- Contribute to proposals, technical submissions, feasibility assessments, cost estimates, and project planning
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university
- Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) or eligibility for registration with the relevant provincial engineering association is preferred
- Experience in the design and delivery of ports, marine, transportation, industrial, waterfront, or infrastructure projects
- Demonstrated understanding of medium and low voltage power distribution, shore power and vessel utility connections, grounding and bonding, backup power/UPS systems, lighting, communications, controls, conduit and cable routing, equipment layouts, electrical rooms, substations, and utility infrastructure
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations applicable to ports, marine terminals, shore power systems, and electrical infrastructure
- Experience preparing engineering calculations, technical specifications, reports, design drawings, and construction documentation
- Proficiency with engineering software and design tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, ETAP, SKM, or related platforms is an asset
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary project environments and integrated design delivery
- Experience supporting projects through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational support phases is an asset
- Experience with site investigations, condition assessments, construction support, or commissioning activities in operational port, marine, industrial, or waterfront environments is an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English required; French is an asset
