About the role

Geotechnical materials technician testing soils, aggregates, and asphalt for Arcadis’ sustainable engineering projects. Supporting field investigations, construction quality control, and foundation design evaluations.

Responsibilities

Perform laboratory testing on soil, aggregates, and asphalt, including sieve analysis and compaction, according to CCIL standards
Conduct in-situ testing and soil sampling
Assist with borehole drilling during geotechnical investigations
Monitor engineered fill placement and compaction
Conduct field density and moisture content tests
Safely operate nuclear density gauges in compliance with radiation safety protocols
Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot field and laboratory testing equipment
Implement quality control processes
Document real-time test results
Prepare data reports for project engineers and clients
Collaborate with project engineers and field crews
Support foundation design, construction projects, and site development evaluations

Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field
Proven hands-on experience in geotechnical investigations, laboratory materials testing, and field operations monitoring
Active CCIL certification for Soil, Aggregate, and Asphalt is considered an asset
Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) certification is an asset
Proficiency with gINT and Geo Software
Proficiency with AutoCAD
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word
Registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or active membership with OACETT is a strong asset
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Ability to manage project schedules
