About the role

  • Principal Environmental Consultant advancing Arcadis’ ESDD and ESLTM services from Calgary. Providing technical oversight, client development, and quality assurance for sustainable infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction for Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) and Long-Term Monitoring (ESLTM) delivery nationally and internationally
  • Establish best practices, approve project deliverables, and drive consistent, high-quality IESC delivery across programmatic portfolios
  • Lead pursuits of new projects with existing and new clients, including international financial institutions and project proponents
  • Utilize technical expertise to deliver ESDD and ESLTM projects
  • Contribute to business development, bidding activities, sales initiatives, and cross-sector growth opportunities across the Americas
  • Support successful delivery and review of multidisciplinary projects against international standards and frameworks
  • Collaborate with technical experts to define sector-specific accountabilities
  • Serve as a senior technical advisor through technical reviews, project missions, stakeholder meetings, and reporting activities
  • Maintain client engagement, gather feedback, drive continuous improvement, and support the Quality Management System
  • Support Sector Leads across Mining & Materials, Energy, Power, and other sectors
  • Build and maintain key client relationships and identify cross-selling opportunities

Requirements

  • Masters’ degree or higher in an appropriate area of science
  • 15 or more years’ relevant experience
  • Substantial experience in Environmental Planning and Social Compliance
  • Specific experience in Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) and Long-Term Monitoring (ESLTM) consultancy work
  • Expertise in a relevant technical discipline, such as environment, social, or biodiversity
  • Proven track record pursuing and securing new business opportunities
  • Experience developing and executing discipline-specific business strategies
  • Experience realizing cross-sector growth opportunities
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Key account management experience
  • Ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with senior-level clients and stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in English and Spanish
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally for project missions and client engagement
  • Expert knowledge of IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, World Bank Group Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines, and applicable Good International Industry Practices
  • Post-graduate qualification and/or fellowship in an appropriate professional institution preferred
  • Portuguese considered a strong asset
