About the role

  • Project Controller leading cost management, forecasting, and commercial controls for Arcadis’ sustainable infrastructure projects. Hybrid role collaborating with major project teams across Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain project cost systems such as Oracle and Unifier
  • Oversee timesheet systems, labour cost allocation, and reporting compliance
  • Prepare, analyze, and present KPI metrics, dashboards, and Earned Value indicators
  • Facilitate monthly cost and value analysis, forecasting, and performance reporting
  • Manage invoicing, payments, cash flow, and accounts receivable and payable
  • Ensure accurate cost classification and prepare month-end and year-end financial reports
  • Prepare cost estimates for minor scopes of work and variations
  • Maintain commercial records including contracts, change orders, and supporting documentation
  • Identify and help resolve project controls issues
  • Support major project setup, including sub-consultancy agreements, commercial processes, management plans, reporting frameworks, and KPI structures
  • Work with the Project Director and Commercial Lead across cost management activities
  • Collaborate with project teams on commercial matters and mentor cost controllers
  • Apply NEC, FIDIC, and other standard contract forms
  • Contribute to the Performance Excellence Group and continuous improvement
  • Comply with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations and perform additional duties as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, engineering or construction management, or similar
  • 5-8 years’ experience in cost management, quantity surveying, or project controls on large infrastructure projects (Marine projects preferred)
  • Membership in recognized professional bodies (e.g., PQS, MRICS, MCIOB) is preferred
  • Proven experience working within a design and engineering consultancy environment
  • Proficiency with Oracle ERP or similar financial systems, and advanced Excel
  • Experience with Power BI, Smartsheet or similar tools is an asset
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy in assessing cost, risk, and performance data
  • Proven ability to work in a collaborative team environment, demonstrating excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills
  • Working knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM), change control, and risk management frameworks across complex projects
  • Working understanding of risk tools such as Acumen Risk is beneficial
