About the role

  • Early Career Instrumentation and Controls Technician for multidisciplinary engineering projects in Montreal. Involvement from design to commissioning in a collaborative environment focused on technical excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in engineering studies
  • Meet with clients to define instrumentation and control requirements and installation specifications
  • Participate in site surveys and facility inspections
  • Assist in preparing design criteria and cost estimates
  • Prepare plans and specifications in accordance with applicable standards and regulations
  • Design control and automation panels and select instrumentation equipment
  • Program and configure automation components (PLC, HMI/SCADA, Historian, etc.)
  • Participate in commissioning activities (pre-operational checks, testing, calibration, etc.)
  • Work collaboratively with technicians and engineers on specific projects
  • Ensure compliance with company and client quality requirements (effectively apply the ISO 9001 Quality System through corporate policies, procedures, and work instructions)
  • Perform any other duties related to the nature of the position

Requirements

  • DEP (Diploma of Vocational Studies) or equivalent in Instrumentation & Control or Automation
  • More than 3 years of experience in instrumentation and controls
  • Experience in industrial environments, including pharmaceutical, food and beverage, and airport sectors (an asset)
  • Consulting engineering experience (a significant asset)
  • Experience with various platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, Aveva Wonderware, etc.
  • Knowledge of industrial networking (an asset)
  • Knowledge of machine safety (an asset)
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to manage multiple small projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical, as well as strong general computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Ability to travel occasionally to client sites
  • Broad understanding of applicable industrial codes, regulations, and standards (a significant asset)
  • Strong interest in new technologies (industrial networks, industrial IT, IIoT systems, diagnostics, etc.)
  • ASP Construction Card (depending on assignments) – Asset
  • Bilingual (French and English)
