About the role
- Senior Electrical Engineer reviewing electrical designs and procurement documents for AtkinsRéalis’ CANDU nuclear engineering projects. Guiding designers and supporting OPG-related power systems work in Ontario.
Responsibilities
- Review and approve technical documents, including engineering drawings, change paper markups, calculations, design/analysis reports, design requirements, design manuals, bills of materials, design specifications, technical specifications, component specification sheets, and commissioning specifications
- Prepare, review, and/or approve requisitions or Engineering Quotation Requests (EQR) for equipment and materials to support procurement
- Interface with and provide technical guidance and instruction to Designers/Drafters
- Prepare, review, and/or approve preliminary design walkdown reports and OPEX reports
Requirements
- Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent degree as recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario
- 10+ years of related work experience in electrical engineering and power systems design in the nuclear industry
- Good knowledge and experience of CANDU nuclear electrical power systems and applicable codes and standards, such as Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC) and CSA 22.1
- Experience in modeling electrical power systems and using analysis functions in ETAP or similar software is an asset
- Experience with medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution systems
- Experience preparing Single Line diagrams, Elementary Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, Cable Block Diagrams, and schedules
- Experience calculating power demand/electrical load lists, transformer sizing, cable sizing, and circuit breaker sizing
- Having OPG site security clearance and/or being eligible to obtain site security clearance
- Currently working or having worked in OPG for conceptual, preliminary engineering, detail design, and modification project activities according to OPG N-PROC-MP-0090
- Familiarity with OPG Engineering Change Control/Modification process is an asset
- Experience with OPG AS7 and/or AS9 system, or an equivalent asset management system, is an asset
