About the role

  • Actuarial Manager pricing complex commercial insurance accounts above $2M for Aviva Canada. Leading portfolio analysis, rate recommendations, and actuarial team development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead indication analysis to ensure rate adequacy of individual accounts
  • Conduct pricing reviews of high-value complex portfolios and provide rate recommendations
  • Develop alternative pricing solutions based on the unique characteristics of large accounts
  • Evaluate and quantify credit risk for accounts with large retentions
  • Collaborate with senior management, underwriters, and brokers to deliver pricing solutions
  • Develop and execute a roadmap for continuous improvement of sophistication, efficiency, and analytical capabilities
  • Drive portfolio monitoring and deliver pricing insights and understanding of portfolio performance
  • Coach and mentor senior and junior analysts and co-op students
  • Act as a role model for Aviva values and foster a positive, high-performing work environment
  • Support pricing and profitability of commercial accounts with premiums above $2M and accounts involving complex or unique structures
  • Provide actuarial analysis on Property, Casualty, and Auto products

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related quantitative discipline; equivalent experience will also be considered
  • Minimum ACAS/ACIA, FCAS/FCIA is preferred
  • 5+ years of P&C actuarial experience
  • 3+ years of commercial pricing experience
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Exceptional communication skills with ability to communicate analytical findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to manage and complete multiple projects and multitask and prioritize
  • Experience with SAS, VBA, Python, R, or other analytical tools is an advantage
