About the role

  • Industrial automation technician supporting PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for AWC’s water and wastewater treatment solutions. Commissioning equipment, troubleshooting controls, and providing client field support.

Responsibilities

  • Support internal Factory Acceptance Testing before equipment shipment to site
  • Support field commissioning and operation of complete water and wastewater systems
  • Provide remote technical support for clients and site operators
  • Act as the main contact for warranty and technical support
  • Communicate with engineering, fabrication, CAD, consultants, and suppliers to identify and proactively resolve issues
  • Deliver service to clients and on-site partners, including general contractors and end users
  • Develop control system designs from control system design through field instrumentation
  • Procure customer user requirement specifications
  • Evaluate control strategies and suitability for common industrial processes using P&IDs
  • Evaluate I&C documentation, including Control Narratives, RATS Lists, Cause and Effect Diagrams, and Serial Interface Lists
  • Design and implement multiple-loop control systems
  • Program PLCs and calibrate field devices
  • Develop HMI display graphics and configurations
  • Develop SCADA/RTU applications, including historian, trending, and reporting

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Experience in water/wastewater treatment plants and other turnkey industrial process packages is an asset
  • Post-secondary education in Automation & Instrumentation
  • Experience in PLC programming and field service support
  • Experience with a variety of PLCs, preferably Rockwell ControlLogix and CompactLogix
  • Experience and/or working knowledge with HMIs, preferably FactoryTalk View Studio
  • Experience and/or knowledge with SCADA, various VFDs, and industrial communications networks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, including attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Willingness to travel less than 10% of the time
