About the role
- Industrial automation technician supporting AWC’s integrated water and wastewater treatment solutions. Handling PLC programming, commissioning, field support, and SCADA/RTU applications.
Responsibilities
- Support internal Factory Acceptance Testing before equipment shipment to site
- Support field commissioning and operations of complete water and wastewater systems
- Travel for field support for less than 10% of working time
- Provide remote technical support for clients and site operators
- Act as the main contact for warranty and technical support
- Communicate with engineering, fabrication, CAD, consultants, suppliers, and other stakeholders to proactively identify and resolve issues
- Deliver exceptional service to clients and on-site partners
- Develop control system designs from the control system design through field instrumentation
- Procure customer user requirement specifications
- Evaluate control strategies and suitability for common industrial processes using P&IDs
- Evaluate I&C documentation, including Control Narratives, RATS Lists, Cause and Effect Diagrams, and Serial Interface Lists
- Design and implement multiple-loop control systems
- Program PLCs and calibrate field devices
- Develop intuitive HMI display graphics and configurations
- Develop SCADA/RTU applications, including historian, trending, and reporting
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience
- Experience in water/wastewater treatment plants and other turnkey industrial process packages is an asset
- Post-secondary education in Automation & Instrumentation
- Experience in PLC programming and field service support
- Experience with a variety of PLCs, preferably Rockwell ControlLogix and CompactLogix
- Experience and/or working knowledge with HMIs, preferably FactoryTalk View Studio
- Experience and/or knowledge with SCADA, various VFDs, and industrial communications networks
- Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and pride in delivering high quality results
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Strong planning and organizational skills, including attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
