About the role

  • Intermediate Electrical Engineer designing and sizing equipment for AWC Water Solutions’ water and wastewater treatment plants. Leading electrical projects and collaborating on fabrication, controls, vendors, and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis to size electrical equipment meeting client specifications, codes, and standards
  • Act as electrical lead on projects
  • Review engineering documents and verify electrical equipment compliance with client specifications, industry standards, and codes
  • Work with electrical and I&C design and fabrication teams to verify equipment selection and sizing
  • Assist in creating prototypes and conduct design validation testing
  • Review fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, bills of materials, general arrangement drawings, and equipment layouts
  • Support development of change orders
  • Assist project managers with client needs through client meetings and calls
  • Evaluate and recommend cost-effective design options
  • Collaborate with fabrication, sales, vendors, owners, and owners’ engineers
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and technologies through training and self-improvement
  • Contribute to improvements in AWC’s Quality Management System
  • Mentor and train junior team members

Requirements

  • Post Secondary Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Active P.Eng. registration in the province of BC or Alberta
  • 5-10 years of work experience designing, sizing, and selecting process electrical equipment
  • Strong communication and written skills
  • Knowledge of process electrical equipment is an asset
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite
  • Exposure to Autodesk products is an asset
  • Strong understanding of engineering first principles utilized in the design of electrical and controls systems is an asset
