About the role

  • Mission Engineer building and deploying AI-powered workflows, integrations, and operational tools for Axon’s public safety agency customers. Driving onsite adoption, measurable mission outcomes, and reusable solutions across strategic accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Own customer outcomes and the full lifecycle of Axon’s ecosystem within a strategic agency account
  • Discover agency problems onsite and translate them into compliant solutions tied to mission outcomes
  • Design, build, test, and ship AI agents, workflows, automations, integrations, and data pipelines on Axon’s platform
  • Configure, integrate, and extend DEMS, Fusus, AI Era, Records, and related systems in agency environments
  • Iterate solutions onsite until adoption sticks and document reusable patterns
  • Apply CJIS, evidence integrity, and privacy guardrails to every build
  • Troubleshoot onsite and coordinate root-cause resolution across Product, Engineering, Support, and Services
  • Build and deploy AI-powered workflows using agents, prompts, RAG, and evaluations
  • Drive hands-on adoption and measure usage, workflow impact, and mission outcomes
  • Assess workflows, identify friction, define success metrics, and establish baselines
  • Build relationships with agency leadership and operational stakeholders; lead QBRs, mission reviews, and strategic planning
  • Capture customer insights and field intelligence to influence Product and Engineering roadmaps
  • Turn one-off builds into reusable playbooks and operational frameworks
  • Identify expansion opportunities and partner with Sales on account strategy
  • Maintain onsite presence approximately 3-4 days per week
  • Support Sales-to-Post-Sales onboarding and handoff

Requirements

  • Typically 8+ years of experience in customer-facing technical roles, program management, operational transformation, or complex deployment environments
  • Proven experience shipping working automations, agents, workflows, integrations, or AI-enabled tools in customer environments
  • Ability to configure products, write integration logic, and deliver production-ready solutions
  • Comfort working across hardware, software, cloud, AI-enabled technologies, and integrated systems
  • Strong communication with technical teams and senior stakeholders, including command staff in mission-critical environments
  • Ability to take full ownership in ambiguous, fast-changing environments and navigate competing priorities across Product, Engineering, Sales, Support, and Services
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CJIS compliance and adhere to security standards
  • Experience in public safety, law enforcement, corrections, or other mission-critical operational environments preferred
  • Familiarity with Records, Evidence, digital workflows, AI-enabled platforms, or integrated public safety ecosystems preferred
  • Background in forward-deployed engineering, solutions architecture, or operational transformation at scale preferred
