About the role

  • Senior Analyst strengthening operational risk management at BDC, Canada’s bank dedicated to entrepreneurs. Improving risk frameworks, controls, reporting, and resilience across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Support first- and second-line stakeholders in executing ORM programs, including RCSA, KRI, ORE, and NPBI risk assessments
  • Support the first line of defence in end-to-end operational risk management
  • Identify, assess, measure, and monitor operational risks
  • Evaluate control environments
  • Oversee remediation activities and action plans
  • Review and challenge risk assessments and reported operational risk events
  • Monitor remediation activities and ensure timely closure of action plans
  • Design, implement, and enhance operational risk methodologies, tools, and training
  • Maintain alignment of ORM frameworks, methods, and practices with BDC’s operational realities and industry best practices
  • Improve ORM program reporting, including data collection, analysis, risk and trend reporting, action plan tracking, and senior management and committee presentations
  • Build and maintain stakeholder relationships with first-line leadership, second-line risk functions, and senior leaders
  • Develop, enhance, and document ORM governance, policies, standards, and procedures
  • Leverage data, automation, and emerging AI capabilities to improve operational risk insights, monitoring, and reporting

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Business Administration, or an equivalent field
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience within the Canadian financial services sector
  • Experience in front-line operations, process support, or Operational Risk Management roles
  • Knowledge of Canadian banking products, processes, and organizational structures
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or executing operational risk programs, including RCSA, KRI, ORE, and NPBI
  • Ability to critically assess and challenge risk assessments and control environments
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to produce clear, structured, and professional reports, analyses, and presentations
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Sound judgement and problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Fluency in French and English, verbal and written
