About the role

  • Mechanical Project Coordinator supporting HVAC, plumbing, piping, and retrofit projects for Black & McDonald. Coordinating schedules, budgets, subcontractors, safety, and project documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers in planning, execution, and successful delivery of mechanical construction projects
  • Assist with project scheduling, milestone tracking, and progress monitoring using standard software systems
  • Help manage project budgets, cost forecasting, change orders, and margin projections
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and internal project teams
  • Prepare and distribute project progress reports and schedules
  • Facilitate shop drawing reviews and approvals between vendors, owners, and project stakeholders
  • Assist in contract administration, including revisions and negotiations with clients and subcontractors
  • Support quality control initiatives
  • Build and maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationships
  • Participate in and assist with toolbox talks
  • Support a strong safety culture on every job site and ensure compliance with PPE requirements and safety procedures
  • Maintain and organize project documentation through Procore
  • Coordinate materials, equipment purchases, tools, and resources for active projects
  • Assist in preparing Operation and Maintenance Manuals for project closeout
  • Collaborate with electrical and other project teams on multi-disciplinary projects
  • Travel to project sites as required to support project activities
  • Independently coordinate and manage smaller projects when applicable

Requirements

  • A university degree in mechanical engineering; OR
  • A college diploma/program in construction management or a related field; OR
  • Equivalent industry experience as a skilled trades person
  • 2–5 years of experience in the construction industry
  • Preferably experience with commercial/institutional projects
  • Experience as a field superintendent, project coordinator, or estimator would be an asset
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project)
  • Proficiency in construction scheduling and project planning
  • Proficiency in budget tracking and cost management
  • Proficiency in document control systems such as Procore
  • Knowledge of construction business processes and project execution methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of construction scheduling, planning, and execution
  • Knowledge of business operations processes
  • Exceptional organization and time management abilities
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Commitment to teamwork and collaboration
  • Available to travel to site when necessary
