About the role

  • Finance administrative support specialist at CBC/Radio-Canada, processing accounts payable, tax and vendor transactions. Supporting payment cycles, reconciliations and financial services operations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate payment of CBC/Radio-Canada purchase orders and non-purchase-order payments
  • Process tax remittances to the appropriate federal or provincial government level
  • Respond to internal and external payment queries
  • Recommend and develop operating efficiency improvements
  • Review and verify invoices and payment requisitions for documentation and approvals before entering them into the accounts payable system
  • Process accounts payable and expense transactions, including journal entries
  • Code invoices, expense reports and payment requisitions according to CBC/Radio-Canada procedures and policies
  • Apply appropriate sales tax treatment, including input tax credit/refund restrictions and PST self-assessment
  • Create, maintain and approve vendors in the accounting system and maintain the vendor database
  • Handle client and vendor inquiries via telephone, mail, email and remedy tickets
  • Prepare and perform payment cycles using EFT, cheques or wires/ACH
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Reconcile vendor statements
  • Provide supporting documentation for internal audits and information requests
  • Support credit card management, accounts receivable and billing activities as required
  • Ensure activities comply with organizational policies, standards, regulations and laws

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in accounting, finance or Business Administration or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a related field or similar organization
  • Fluency in English and French is mandatory
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both official languages
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounts payable principles
  • Knowledge of SAP (asset)
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables, functions and data handling, and Microsoft products
  • Advanced knowledge of sales taxes (asset)
  • Attention to detail and strong concentration skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong judgement, initiative and resourcefulness
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage several priorities and tight deadlines
  • Discretion, diplomacy and tact in communications with internal and external stakeholders
  • High level of confidentiality
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Successful candidates must complete a mandatory criminal record check and may undergo other background checks
