About the role

  • Financial Planning Consultant delivering wealth-management advice to CIBC high-net-worth clients. Analyzing portfolios, creating retirement plans, and partnering with branch advisors to provide investment solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert financial planning counsel specializing in wealth management solutions for high-net-worth clients
  • Work in partnership with CIBC branch-based advisors
  • Provide subject matter expertise on economic and political impacts, legislation, competitors, regulators, and trends
  • Analyze customer portfolios and prepare retirement and investment plans
  • Interview customers to define and analyze needs and goals, identify gaps, discuss solutions, recommend asset mixes, and close sales
  • Educate customers about investments and portfolios
  • Educate advisors and relationship managers about the Financial Planning Consultant role
  • Share customer discussion results and coordinate delivery of sold products and services with relationship managers
  • Identify referral opportunities to other CIBC subsidiaries involved in client asset management
  • Collaborate with branch-network relationship managers to identify current and potential high-value customers
  • Obtain referrals for investment, business transition, and estate planning needs
  • Conduct regular information sessions and seminars for relationship managers

Requirements

  • Typically 7–10 years of financial advisory/sales experience with high-net-worth clients
  • Extensive investment knowledge and expertise
  • Strong understanding of financial markets
  • Very strong interactive and presentation skills
  • Completed Canadian Securities Course (CSC)
  • Successful CFP (Certified Financial Planner) designation required
  • Conduct and Practices Handbook Course (CPH) is an asset
  • Status of Registered Representative, if required, or status of IIROC
  • Legally eligible to work at the specified location(s)
  • Ability to complete attribute-based assessments and other skills tests if requested
