Facilities maintenance assistant repairing and inspecting Ottawa water and wastewater facilities. Supporting treatment plants, pumping stations, reservoirs and other municipal infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Perform general maintenance and repairs of assigned Water Services buildings and grounds
Maintain facilities including water and wastewater treatment plants, the Solid Waste site at Trail Road, administrative buildings, pumping stations, reservoirs, elevated tanks and stormwater ponds
Complete facility inspections and condition assessments
Provide related operational and maintenance support
Safely operate and handle required tools, materials and equipment
Work with minimal supervision and as part of a team
Work in confined spaces and from ladders as required
Use required personal protective equipment
Complete required documentation
Requirements
Completion of Grade 12
Minimum of 4 years of experience conducting general repairs, maintenance and renovations in an industrial setting
Valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points
Valid Ontario unrestricted DZ class driver's licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points, for specific positions
Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates
Forklift Operator Licence
Hoisting and Rigging training certificate
Chainsaw Operator Safety training certificate
Must complete all required on-the-job training/certifications within the employer's timeframe
Knowledge of tools, materials and equipment used in general maintenance and repair of industrial facilities
Knowledge of Building Code and Fire Code
Knowledge of WHMIS and applicable health and safety legislation
Ability to operate a personal computer and use Markview, Marval and general office applications such as MS Office
Ability to complete documentation and calculate material quantities
Ability to read and understand facility drawings, sketches, instructions, manuals and contract specifications
English oral, reading and writing language requirement
Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check (Level 2) required
