About the role
- Junior Data Engineer building production pipelines for Citylitics’ AI-powered infrastructure intelligence platform. Collaborating on BigQuery data models and custom data solutions for infrastructure vendors and engineering firms.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain performant, reliable, and maintainable production data pipelines using Airflow and BigQuery
- Handle pipeline design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance
- Collaborate with data analysts and stakeholders to define data requirements
- Design efficient data models within BigQuery
- Optimize queries and pipeline/dashboard performance
- Serve as the dedicated data engineering resource for Custom Solutions work
- Partner with Data, Product, and Customer Success teams to take bespoke client requests from proof-of-concept through production
- Translate client requirements into technical solutions
- Communicate technical details and project progress to stakeholders
- Contribute to improvements in data infrastructure and processes
- Suggest and implement new technologies and best practices
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate development, debugging, design, and documentation
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python and SQL
- 2+ years of experience building and maintaining data pipelines using Airflow/Cloud Composer
- Strong understanding of data warehousing principles
- Experience working with BigQuery
- Understanding of ETL/ELT, data modeling, and building idempotent, reliable pipelines
- Experience with Git and cloud platforms, preferably GCP
- Experience building and deploying interactive dashboards or data apps, such as Dash on Cloud Run, is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Comfort and enthusiasm for using AI tools such as Claude in daily workflow
