About the role

  • Staff Product Designer owning AI-first design systems for Clio, the global leader in legal AI technology. Defining trustworthy agentic interactions, scalable patterns, and cohesive experiences across legal products.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product and Engineering leaders to define experience strategy, success metrics, and high-leverage priorities grounded in customer insights and business outcomes
  • Translate complex workflows and constraints into clear direction and durable experience decisions
  • Lead end-to-end design across multi-surface journeys from opportunity framing through prototyping, validation, and high-quality execution
  • Shape long-term experience vision through storytelling and collaborative thinking
  • Raise quality across the product ecosystem through cohesive, accessible, and scalable experiences
  • Strengthen patterns, frameworks, and design system evolution across teams
  • Facilitate decision framing and proactive cross-functional collaboration through ambiguity
  • Mentor and elevate designers through critique, coaching, and strategic role-modelling
  • Partner with the product design manager to uphold design quality and craft
  • Contribute to design culture, Staff-level forums, and organization-wide initiatives
  • Own the vision and evolution of Clio’s design system for the AI-first era
  • Define frameworks, patterns, and standards for agentic product experiences, including AI interaction models, streaming states, content voice, brand expression, and evaluation heuristics

Requirements

  • 8+ years of Product Design experience
  • B2B SaaS experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to design scalable experiences across multiple customer segments and/or products
  • Experience leading complex, cross-team initiatives across interconnected systems
  • Track record of shipping high-quality work that solves customer problems and moves product metrics
  • Strong product judgment and business acumen
  • Deep mastery of UX craft, including interaction design, information architecture, usability, and visual design
  • Advanced customer-centric discovery practice
  • Proven experience designing AI-powered experiences involving trust, transparency, and user control
  • Proven systems thinking and ability to design reusable frameworks and patterns
  • Expertise in modern design and prototyping tools
  • Practical fluency with AI tools such as Figma Make, Cursor, and Gemini
  • Excellent presentation and storytelling skills
  • Skilled facilitation and decision framing
  • Strong cross-functional partnership skills
  • Experience mentoring peers
  • Track record of evolving a design system from functional to foundational, including rollout rigor, documentation, and architecture
  • Fluency with agentic or AI-first products where system behavior, delegation, trust, and human oversight are central
  • Shipped AI interaction patterns including streaming states, citations, confidence signaling, refusals, and error recovery
  • Experience adapting platforms for distinct customer verticals, vocabularies, workflows, or compliance contexts
  • Content design or UX writing experience is a bonus
