About the role

  • Quality Assurance Analyst reviewing mortgage files and detecting fraud risks for nesto’s Canadian mortgage technology platform. Supporting audits, QA reporting, underwriting guidance, and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily reviews of a sample of mortgage applications pre- and post-funding
  • Assess file data, financial documents, client information, broker and insurer submissions, and legal documents
  • Identify unusual behavior, suspicious transactions and potentially invalid documents
  • Conduct preliminary investigations and take necessary actions on suspicious files
  • Prepare quality assurance reports with findings and recommendations
  • Perform additional analyses at the request of Risk Management or QA
  • Support audits with partners, investors and insurers through to issue resolution
  • Manage, periodically monitor and review approved lists and AML/KYC lists
  • Conduct regular QA/QC reviews promptly, efficiently and objectively
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to underwriters and stakeholders on credit risks, loss mitigation, flood/property risks and training opportunities
  • Review mortgage applications pre-funding and post-funding for compliance with nesto policies, underwriting standards and regulations
  • Support audits and communicate findings to management and underwriting teams

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in mortgage approval/adjudication
  • Experience with the mortgage broker channel preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, SharePoint)
  • Proficient in Google Workspace (Drive, Sheets, Docs)
  • Experience with CRM and workflow tools, including Salesforce
  • Strong understanding of internal and external insurer guidelines
  • Knowledge of fraud indicators, detection methods and prevention techniques
  • Analytical mindset with strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to manage and prioritize urgent requests
  • Willingness to make unpopular recommendations when required
  • Fluent bilingualism in French and English preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate findings to management and underwriting teams
