About the role

  • Engineering Manager leading Coeur Mining’s Silvertip underground mining project from engineering development through operating mine delivery. Coordinating multidisciplinary engineering, contractors, reviews, safety, and technical performance.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee the Owner’s Engineering Management functions for Silvertip
  • Accountable for engineering delivery of all Silvertip Project scope
  • Coordinate successful delivery of the Silvertip project engineering technical program from front-end-loaded project development through operating mine
  • Interface with operational readiness, site operations, project support, corporate functions, and permitting stakeholders
  • Lead project safety and engineering integration
  • Control and oversee feasibility study engineering contractor technical delivery, quality, and performance
  • Control and oversee EPC contractor technical delivery, quality, and performance
  • Support stage-gate capital and operating scope and cost reviews
  • Support independent and peer reviews and closure of findings
  • Coordinate project engineering teams and stakeholders
  • Coordinate project engineering interfaces
  • Support project design, risk, and operational reviews and closure of findings
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to meet operational needs

Requirements

  • B.S. Engineering or Geology
  • Professional designation (e.g. P.Eng)
  • Minimum of 15 progressive years of experience in major mining or heavy industrial projects
  • Significant technical leadership and coordination experience over large capital projects
  • Advanced engineering/engineering operations management experience in an Owner’s representative capacity and within an EPCM/Consulting environment is highly desirable
  • Broad, well-rounded knowledge and demonstrated experience in multi-disciplined engineering design from concept to detailed design
  • Experience with design for operability and maintainability
  • Ability to support definition and execution of sampling test work into project design
  • Design criteria development and management experience
  • Experience developing and delivering multi-disciplined engineering and technical scope across mining, civil, buildings and services, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems
  • Knowledge of safety management
  • Knowledge of Stage-Gate, independent review, and peer review processes
  • Advanced communication skills
  • Well-rounded technical knowledge of studies and engineering execution, project engineering management and controls, construction and mine development, and pre-commissioning and commissioning processes
  • Ability to work in office and active project-site environments
  • Ability to travel occasionally to operating or construction sites
  • Ability to work in varying weather, noise, dust, and industrial site conditions while complying with health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Ability to use required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, respiratory protection, and high-visibility clothing
