About the role

  • Financial Accountant supporting Computershare’s global financial administration operations in Toronto. Managing reporting, regulatory filings, reconciliations, and finance transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly journal entries and supporting workpapers
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and investigate reconciling items
  • Support preparation and submission of regulatory filings and related reporting
  • Assist with capital and liquidity monitoring, forecasting, and assessment
  • Support legal entity budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Research, interpret, document, and implement accounting and regulatory guidance under IFRS and US GAAP
  • Analyze large and complex financial and operational data sets to execute reporting and identify business insights
  • Understand end-to-end business and reporting processes and identify efficiency and control improvements
  • Maintain documentation of accounting positions, processes, controls, and procedures
  • Support internal and external audits with analyses and supporting evidence
  • Collaborate with Finance and broader business stakeholders on reporting and accounting matters
  • Participate in finance transformation initiatives, business projects, and special assignments
  • Maintain accurate, well-supported financial information within established timelines
  • Support regulatory reporting, legal entity oversight, corporate transactions, and regulatory change implementation

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
  • 4+ years of experience at a public accounting firm, including complex accounting, audit, reporting, and control-related activities
  • Knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP
  • Experience drafting interpretations, evaluating business impacts, and developing implementation approaches
  • Ability to analyze large and complex financial and operational data sets
  • Ability to understand data flows, identify trends and exceptions, and translate data into business insights
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience with analytical, automation, or reporting tools such as Power Query, Power BI, Alteryx, SQL, or similar
  • Ability to understand end-to-end processes involving multiple systems and data transfers
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make well-reasoned recommendations
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive mindset and desire to improve processes and strengthen controls
  • Desirable: experience in a regulated financial services organization
  • Desirable: experience preparing or reviewing regulatory reports
  • Desirable: experience supporting capital, liquidity, and legal entity reporting
  • Desirable: experience interpreting, documenting, and implementing regulatory guidance
  • Desirable: experience with Oracle General Ledger, Oracle ERP, or comparable accounting systems
  • Desirable: experience in process improvement or finance transformation initiatives
