About the role

  • HR generalist managing employee lifecycle operations for Invest Ottawa and Bayview Yards. Administering HRIS, benefits, onboarding, recruitment logistics, reporting, and employee programs.

Responsibilities

  • Build trust-based working relationships with employees and leaders at all IO locations
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employees and managers on HR questions and support
  • Maintain accurate flow of people-related information with Finance
  • Manage onboarding and orientation for new team members across Invest Ottawa and Bayview Yards
  • Coordinate new-hire logistics, including system access, equipment setup, benefits enrollment, and orientation scheduling
  • Coordinate recruitment logistics, including job postings, applicant tracking, interview scheduling, candidate correspondence, and reference checks
  • Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, leaves, and terminations
  • Execute offboarding administration, including exit documentation, benefits termination, final pay inputs, and system deactivation
  • Coordinate HR programs and initiatives, including engagement surveys, DEI events, recognition programs, and learning and development activities
  • Set up and run the performance management cycle, including system configuration, scheduling, reminders, and completion tracking
  • Serve as the BambooHR super-user, troubleshooting issues, supporting self-service, configuring workflows, and safeguarding data integrity
  • Maintain accurate, current, and audit-ready HRIS employee records
  • Compile data and produce standard and ad hoc HR reports
  • Apply established HR policies, processes, and Ontario ESA requirements to routine HR transactions
  • Escalate matters requiring interpretation, precedent, risk assessment, or formal employment decisions
  • Participate in Leadership Circles and support DEI activities
  • Support the Joint Health & Safety Committee
  • Contribute to HR projects and process/program development
  • Identify administrative process friction and recommend workflow improvements

Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 2 years of progressive HR experience in a generalist or HR operations capacity
  • CHRP designation or actively working toward it preferred
  • Experience with benefits administration and Finance communication protocols an asset
  • Solid foundational knowledge of HR practices across employee relations intake, onboarding, benefits administration, and people operations
  • Advanced proficiency with HRIS systems; BambooHR preferred
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of Ontario ESA as it applies to HR transactions, records, and benefits administration
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and genuine service orientation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Sound judgment about when to resolve matters directly and when to escalate
  • Discretion and professionalism handling sensitive and confidential employee information
