About the role

  • Financial Reporting Manager leading accounting, reporting, controls, and compliance for Creative Energy’s sustainable district energy systems. Supporting low-carbon infrastructure growth across North America.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop junior and intermediate accounting and finance professionals through mentorship, workload management, training, and performance support
  • Oversee financial control systems, transaction processing, and accounting policies and procedures
  • Deliver monthly financial reporting, including financial performance, KPI, and budget variance analysis, in partnership with FP&A
  • Prepare annual financial statements and notes
  • Coordinate external audit information and improve audit efficiency
  • Prepare external financial reporting, including City of Vancouver compliance reporting and the BCUC Annual Report
  • Oversee project accounting deliverables, project reports, and capital forecasts
  • Manage working capital, accounts payable processing, accounts receivable collection, cash flow monitoring, and operating line draws
  • Support GST, PST, HST, and outsourced tax compliance activities
  • Prepare quarterly financial statements and lender covenant calculations
  • Improve financial processes, controls, and chart-of-accounts visibility
  • Partner with the Controller and FP&A to provide insights into financial performance, variances, KPIs, cash flow, and business results

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA accounting designation
  • 5–8 years of related accounting and finance experience
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, particularly ASPE
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience leading and managing junior and intermediate accounting or finance team members
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with internal teams, auditors, tax advisors, lenders, and regulatory stakeholders
  • Experience with Sage Intacct is highly valued
  • Big 4 experience is highly valued
  • Knowledge of the regulatory impact of the BC Utilities Commission is considered an asset
