About the role

  • Lab Technician building, wiring, and maintaining test infrastructure for Delta Controls, a Canadian building-controls manufacturer. Supporting product verification, fabrication, testing, documentation, and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the DVV verification and validation team with constructing, wiring, maintaining, modifying, and repairing test infrastructure and systems
  • Occasionally assist with testing and monitoring Delta products
  • Create, build, and maintain test jigs
  • Fabricate components using CNC routers and 3D printers
  • Create CAD/CAM designs for simple parts
  • Wire test walls and fixtures according to wiring diagrams and schematics
  • Keep workshop and lab workspaces neat and orderly
  • Perform routine checks of lab equipment and facilities
  • Check stock levels of shop supplies and reorder when necessary
  • Carry out preventative maintenance on shop and lab equipment
  • Perform testing using established procedures
  • Document work, take pictures, and store records
  • Assist with component inspections and GD&T as needed
  • Help the DVV team as needed

Requirements

  • Adept in the use of hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, and wire cutters
  • Comfortable with the safe use of power tools such as saws and drills
  • Able to connect components based on a rough wiring diagram or sketch
  • Familiar with Windows-based PCs and Microsoft productivity suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Good interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Diploma in an electronics-related program or equivalent
  • 1 year of related hands-on experience preferred
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Detail-oriented and systematic
  • Interest in continuous improvement and desire to learn
