About the role

  • Legal affairs advisor protecting Desjardins’ interests through compliance, legal opinions, litigation, and policy guidance. Advising organizational units and representing the organization in court.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and support the organization’s units and decision-making bodies on initiatives and activities related to legal affairs
  • Analyze data, conduct studies, make recommendations and write reports
  • Interpret laws and regulations, issue legal opinions, and prepare and validate rules, standards, policies, procedures, forms and agreements
  • Diagnose issues, challenges and needs to determine target outcomes
  • Prepare recommendations, solutions and action plans
  • Represent the organization in court
  • Draft pleadings, prepare witnesses, deliver oral arguments and negotiate the best possible terms
  • Serve as a resource person for the unit, clients and partners

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience
  • Other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Knowledge of French is required
  • Business insight
  • Interpersonal Savvy
