About the role

  • Personal Finance Advisor helping Desjardins Ontario Credit Union members reach financial goals through tailored advice. Recommending investments, loans, and insurance while managing trusted relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain long-term, trusting business relationships with members and clients
  • Listen to members’ and clients’ needs and provide advice tailored to their financial situations
  • Help members and clients select appropriate solutions to reach their financial goals
  • Prepare offers and recommend investments, loans and insurance
  • Advise members and clients on the best strategies and determine target outcomes
  • Manage business relationships, assess satisfaction and service quality, follow up, and identify areas for improvement
  • Stay current on financial services industry news, market trends, and best practices
  • Participate in outreach activities and be present in the community

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience
  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Mutual fund representative certificate from the Ontario Securities Commission
  • Strong communication skills in both French and English, both oral and written
  • Knowledge of the latest financial, economic, policy and legislative developments
  • Knowledge of products and services for members, Desjardins Business centres, components and distribution networks, and competitors
  • Knowledge of debt management practices
  • Knowledge of legislative compliance requirements for the distribution of financial products and services
  • Understanding of the philosophy and fundamentals of financial services cooperatives
  • Knowledge of policies, legislation and standards governing products and services offered by Desjardins Ontario Credit Union
  • Knowledge of techniques used to assess and monitor individual financing applications
