About the role

  • Real estate banking analyst supporting financing mandates, underwriting, and portfolio management at Desjardins Capital Markets. Building models and credit analyses for North American real estate clients.

Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of financing mandates with strategic impacts for Desjardins Capital Markets
  • Support portfolio managers and business development initiatives related to strategic lending for North American Real Estate clients
  • Assist with transaction execution, portfolio management, financial modelling, credit/ESG analysis, legal documentation, and sector-specific research
  • Develop recommendations for complex files requiring a deep understanding of capital markets
  • Conduct annual reviews and develop and review financial models
  • Assist in preparing term sheets and client presentations
  • Perform commercial real estate market and sector research
  • Support underwriting, portfolio monitoring, transaction execution, and client relationship management
  • Review and monitor financial performance, credit quality, and risk profiles of existing borrowers across various lending products
  • Interact with internal business partners and external stakeholders, including legal counsel and clients
  • Provide ad hoc reports for management
  • Perform other related duties as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, corporate finance or another related field
  • A minimum of seven years of relevant experience in corporate and/or commercial banking, including coverage of real estate sector financing
  • Other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Professional designations such as CFA, CPA or CAIA
  • Advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Solid understanding of loan structuring and financial modelling
  • Strong interest and natural curiosity in real estate
  • Action oriented, collaborates, communicates effectively, financial acumen, interpersonal savvy, nimble learning, strategic mindset
