About the role
- Electrical Engineer designing lighting, power, security, and communications systems at DIALOG, a Canadian multidisciplinary design practice. Supporting BIM/Revit delivery across commercial, healthcare, institutional, and mixed-use buildings.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively alongside electrical engineers and technologists in designing lighting, power, security, fire alarm, communications, and data communications systems for various building types
- Collaborate with architects, interior designers, structural engineers, and mechanical engineers to create integrated and sustainable design solutions
- Prepare reports, design specifications, and contract documents for electrical systems
- Participate in BIM/Revit model development, respond to design schedules and milestones, and resource personnel
- Provide Contract Administration support for electrical engineering projects
- Ensure schedules, budgets, and quality control standards are achieved and maintained
- Reference the Canadian Electrical Code, National Building Code Alberta, municipal bylaws, and energy standards to solve compliant design problems
- Participate in all project phases from concept design and construction through completion
- Attend construction meetings with contractors and owners
- Share knowledge and mentor and develop junior team members
Requirements
- University Degree in Electrical Engineering or Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology is required
- Registered P.Eng or equivalent is required
- BIM expertise and proficiency in using Revit software are prerequisites
- Familiarity with ETAP, ElumTools, and AGi32
- Combined 6–12 years of experience in mixed-use living, healthcare, institutional and commercial consulting
- Experience in AEC or Consulting Engineering, drafting and design work, power system design, fire alarm system and life safety, lighting, and lighting control systems
- Knowledge of National and Provincial building and electrical codes and CSA/ULC/TIA standards for large buildings and various building typologies
- Strong understanding and experience with schematic design, design development, detailed design, contract documents, National Master Specification (NMS), and Contract Administration for various project types
- Ability to manage various project types
- Collaborative and team oriented
- Knowledge of power system studies or prior experience in healthcare projects is considered an asset, not a mandatory requirement
