About the role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting activities and reporting obligations for the Canada Finance team.
  • Lead and manage communications related to all accounting and internal financial reporting for Canadian operations.
  • Develop and update financial plans, forecasts, budgets, ongoing activities and projects, as well as other forward-looking forecasts and initiatives.
  • Identify issues and provide feedback to senior management on quarterly financial results, forecasts, and projections.
  • Identify, recruit, develop, and retain talent to ensure a high-performing team.
  • Coach and develop other team members.
  • Ensure the accuracy of forecasts and the reconciliation of budget-to-actual results and historical data for Canadian operations.
  • Oversee audits, resolve audit issues, and manage compliance with Canadian disclosure requirements.
  • Ensure that all internal and external reporting requirements are met.
  • Consolidate, analyze, and review financial data and metrics for Canada's annual operating budget.
  • Lead reviews, analyze, and communicate cost reports for organizational projects.
  • Oversee, develop, and document processes while implementing scalable technology solutions.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Finance function and the business, including the Operations and Development stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with reporting requirements for internal and external purposes, including reports for partners and lenders.
  • Lead financial reporting and accounting services in Canada, with two direct reports in management positions.
  • Contribute to the development of the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) budget.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • At least 10 years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
  • Experience with consolidation required.
  • Experience with Power BI or Tableau is an asset.
  • Ability to work and communicate with all levels of the organization with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Ability to respond and make decisions with limited information in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency in SAP required.
  • Experience with BOFC is an asset.
  • Ability to process large volumes of data.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work.
  • Strong business acumen, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills across and within departments.

  • Bilingual in English and French.
  • Must be able to remain seated or standing in front of a computer for reasonable periods while typing and reading.
  • Must regularly walk or stand.
  • Proficiency with various Microsoft software and programs, telephones, and standard office equipment.
