About the role
- Senior Project Engineer leading PV, wind, and BESS engineering from development through construction. Delivering grid-scale clean energy projects for EDF power solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate preliminary collection system, substation, transmission, electrical, and civil design
- Facilitate geotechnical, LiDAR, hydrology, civil, and electrical studies
- Participate in project reviews and weekly/monthly project meetings
- Serve as the technical interface with Development, Permitting, Interconnection, Estimating, Procurement, Resource Assessment, and Project Management teams
- Manage external third-party engineering consultants
- Support technology reviews, equipment selection, and project pricing
- Coordinate with Development on permitting requirements and conduct site visits to assess constructability
- Provide technical assistance for EPC contractor RFPs and support the transition from development to construction
- Review EPC schedules of values, engineering RFIs, and 30%, 60%, 90%, and IFC deliverables
- Coordinate detailed engineering reviews with subject matter experts and construction teams
- Review civil, structural, and electrical design packages for compliance with EDF specifications
- Support RFI resolution, review contractor change orders, and support Independent Engineer technical due diligence
- Coordinate design optimization and identify cost-reduction and improvement opportunities
- Create engineering guidance, procedures, and processes
- Solve complex cross-functional problems and document and implement project lessons learned
- Spend approximately 80% of the time in the office and 20% in the field visiting projects and meeting stakeholders
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred), Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
- 7+ years of experience on renewable energy projects
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a Project Engineer
- Strong understanding of PV, energy storage, and/or wind technologies
- Broad knowledge of relevant codes, standards, engineering principles, and practices
- Experience with Microsoft and engineering software, including AutoCAD and ETAP and/or other power systems software
- Experience reviewing civil, structural, or electrical engineering design packages
- Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
- Knowledge of PV modeling and design software such as PVsyst, PVcase, or the System Advisor Model is preferred
- Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
- Proactive, flexible, autonomous, highly motivated, and able to work effectively as part of a team
