About the role
- Senior Project Engineer leading PV, wind, and BESS project engineering for EDF power solutions. Coordinating development, interconnection, EPC execution, and construction support.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate preliminary collection system, substation, transmission, electrical, and civil design for assigned projects
- Facilitate geotechnical, LiDAR, hydrology, civil, and electrical studies
- Participate in project reviews and weekly and monthly project meetings
- Serve as the technical lead and interface with Development, Permitting, Interconnection, Estimating, Procurement, Resource Assessment, and Project Management teams
- Manage external third-party engineering consultants
- Support technology reviews, equipment selection, project pricing, permitting, and site constructability assessments
- Conduct development site visits
- Provide technical assistance in preparing EPC contractor RFPs and support the transition from development to construction
- Review EPC schedules of values, bids, detailed design packages, and technical studies
- Coordinate engineering RFIs and 30%, 60%, 90%, and IFC deliverables with EPC contractors, utilities, ISOs, and off-takers
- Coordinate detailed engineering reviews with subject matter experts and construction teams
- Provide construction support, including RFI resolution and change-order recommendations
- Support Independent Engineers’ technical due diligence reviews
- Optimize designs and identify cost-reduction and other improvement opportunities
- Create engineering guidance, procedures, and processes
- Solve complex cross-functional problems and share solutions
- Document and implement project lessons learned
- Spend approximately 80% of time in the office and 20% in the field visiting projects and sites
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred), Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
- 7+ years of experience with renewable energy projects required
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a Project Engineer
- Strong understanding of PV, energy storage, and/or wind technologies
- Knowledge of relevant engineering codes, standards, principles, and practices
- Experience with Microsoft Office and engineering software, including AutoCAD and ETAP and/or other power systems software
- Experience reviewing civil, structural, or electrical engineering design packages
- Must be a member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
- Experience with or knowledge of PV software tools such as PVSyst, PVcase, or the System Advisor Model preferred
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
