About the role

  • Aquatic Biologist delivering freshwater and marine field programs for ERM, the global sustainability consultancy. Analyzing aquatic data and supporting permitting, monitoring, and impact assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement freshwater and/or marine aquatic field programs, including remote deployments
  • Compile, manage, and analyze water quality, sediment quality, and biological community data
  • Prepare technical reports or report sections for baseline studies, environmental monitoring programs, permitting submissions, and impact assessments
  • Contribute to efficient and accurate data management and field documentation
  • Advance aquatic science through rigorous field programs, data analysis, and technical reporting
  • Provide insights into water quality, sediment quality, and aquatic community composition
  • Support environmental permitting, baseline assessments, impact evaluations, and long-term monitoring programs
  • Strengthen data integrity and scientific defensibility through QA/QC and methodological consistency
  • Collaborate with toxicologists, hydrologists, hydrogeologists, geochemists, fisheries biologists, and specialists across ERM’s global network

Requirements

  • BSc in Aquatic Biology or a related discipline
  • 2+ years of experience planning, managing, and executing aquatic field programs
  • Experience with freshwater and/or marine field programs, including remote settings
  • Strong data management and statistical analysis skills using R or similar software
  • Experience with field and data QA/QC processes
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and time-management skills
  • Knowledge of Federal, Provincial, and Territorial environmental regulations and guidelines
  • Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced consulting environment and meet critical deadlines
  • Strong commitment to Health & Safety protocols
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work in remote locations and varying weather conditions
  • Valid driver's license and/or ability to operate a company vehicle
  • Not eligible for immigration sponsorship
  • Preferred: MSc in Aquatic Biology or related discipline
  • Professional registration such as R.P.Bio or eligibility
  • CABIN certified
  • Swiftwater certified
  • Prior environmental consulting, government, or mining-sector experience
  • Marine fieldwork or analytical experience
  • Boat operating experience
  • Field experience in hydrology, hydrogeology, or related discipline
