About the role

  • Principal Geochemistry Consultant leading ERM’s environmental consulting projects for mining and resource clients. Driving geochemical studies, water management, permitting, and sustainable growth across Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical execution of geochemical characterization studies and ML/ARD management for environmental assessment and permitting of large-scale capital projects
  • Delegate work and serve as senior technical reviewer for scope, budget, schedule, quality, and client expectations
  • Lead, manage performance, hire and retain, inspire, and mentor technical-team personnel
  • Deliver technical analyses and develop mass balance and geochemical models
  • Collaborate with hydrology, hydrogeology, aquatics, and toxicology specialists on integrated investigations and modelling studies
  • Expand ERM’s integrated water management services for clients in Canada
  • Support growth across environmental impact assessment, land planning, facility siting and permitting, risk assessment, and water resources management
  • Expand ERM’s profile and market share through technical excellence and business development
  • Contribute to ERM’s global impact assessment and planning business development
  • Identify opportunities, prepare technical proposals, and develop new business
  • Serve as a key client contact and trusted advisor
  • Contribute to ERM’s international water resources technical community
  • Collaborate globally to execute projects and share technical expertise
  • Participate in multidisciplinary impact assessment teams across ERM offices
  • Provide senior technical expertise on major multimillion-dollar projects throughout Canada and globally

Requirements

  • MSc or PhD in Geochemistry or a related field
  • 6+ years consulting experience in geochemistry, water resource management, impact assessment, and permitting
  • Registered professional in a Canadian jurisdiction
  • Experience leading geochemical characterization studies and ML/ARD management programs
  • Understanding of environmental assessment, permitting processes, and mining-sector regulatory drivers
  • Technical competence and broad knowledge of impact assessment best practices
  • Experience developing technical analyses, mass balance models, and geochemical models
  • Team-building and influencing skills
  • Integrity and professional credibility
  • Experience addressing complex client and business challenges
  • Ability to develop and maintain long-term client relationships
  • Leadership, mentoring, and people management capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaborative mindset and commitment to a global organization
  • Preferred: 10+ years consulting experience in geochemistry, water resource management, impact assessment, and permitting
  • Preferred: Established reputation as a geochemistry and water resources specialist
  • Preferred: Positive reputation with key regulators involved in environmental approvals
  • Preferred: Experience supporting large-scale mining and natural resource capital projects
  • Preferred: Existing relationships with mining-sector clients across Canada
  • Preferred: Business development experience, including opportunity identification, proposal preparation, and securing new work
  • Preferred: Experience with multidisciplinary and globally distributed project teams
  • Preferred: Expertise in integrated water management, environmental impact assessment, land planning, facility siting and permitting, risk assessment, and water resources management
