About the role
- Senior Engineering Manager leading Joist product squads at EverCommerce, a service-commerce SaaS platform. Driving scalable software delivery, agile execution, and engineering-team growth for contractor management tools.
Responsibilities
- Lead two cross-functional product development squads working on the Joist product
- Guide engineering teams by example and instill kindness, quality, and ownership
- Provide feedback to improve team performance
- Coordinate and communicate with peers across and outside engineering
- Set clear objectives and communicate up-to-date delivery timelines
- Remove project roadblocks and ensure delivery to customers
- Guide engineers in designing robust and scalable systems
- Dissect business problems into well-designed systems
- Select appropriate tools based on algorithms, data structures, design patterns, and data storage technologies
- Contribute to solutions from inception through deployment
- Partner with Product Management to experiment, iterate, and ship quickly
- Mentor and grow engineers
- Support software delivery, team growth, and development
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience leading engineers as their direct manager in a product development environment
- Preferably experience managing teams spanning multiple technology stacks
- 5+ years of professional industry experience as a software developer working in agile teams
- Successful record of mentoring and growing other engineers
- Proven ability to own software projects from scoping and estimation through production launch
- Ability to partner with Product Management to experiment, iterate, and ship quickly for customers
- Ability to communicate deeply technical topics clearly and concisely
- Strong opinions about building software and products, while being receptive to others’ views
- Expertise in agile software development processes and operating high-performing engineering squads
- Direct experience with Ruby on Rails, React, iOS (Swift), or Android (Kotlin) is a bonus
- Background managing teams in companies with multiple product squads sharing a common platform/infrastructure is a bonus
- Must be eligible to work without sponsorship
