About the role

  • Finance Manager leading forecasting, reporting, compliance, and operational finance for Evolving Web, a digital agency. Managing project profitability and financial systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning in line with the agency’s growth objectives
  • Track revenue, margins, and profitability by project and client
  • Analyze utilization rates, billable rates, and project performance
  • Advise leadership on the financial implications of strategic decisions
  • Prepare accurate and timely income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
  • Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations and financial reporting requirements
  • Oversee month-end and year-end closings, reporting, and variance analysis
  • Implement and optimize tools and systems such as project time tracking and financial dashboards
  • Manage and review operating expenses, payroll, and subcontractor payments
  • Review expense reports
  • Perform bookkeeping and general reporting
  • Collaborate with project managers and department leads to improve processes and resource allocation
  • Manage financial relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and clients

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; a CPA designation is an asset
  • 5+ years of experience in finance or accounting
  • Experience in a digital agency or professional services environment is strongly preferred
  • Good knowledge of Canadian and Quebec taxation; knowledge of U.S. taxation is an asset
  • Excellent proficiency with Google Sheets or similar tools
  • Interest in continuously improving processes and exploring new tools, such as ChatGPT
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as Xero and Dext
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Redmine, Float, and Notion
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong business acumen
  • Collaborative mindset
  • Good understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of project-based accounting and revenue recognition
  • Strong communication skills in both French and English
  • English is required for regular collaboration with clients and team members located outside Quebec
