About the role
- Mechanical Engineer designing pump and piping systems for EXP’s infrastructure and transportation projects. Leading QA/QC, technical documentation, site reviews, and mentoring for project teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and direct less experienced mechanical staff, particularly in pump and piping system design
- Perform QA/QC reviews of specifications, reports, code application, RFIs, submittals, equipment selection, deliverables and drawings
- Review designers' calculations and provide guidance and mentoring
- Determine drawing and specification content for less experienced staff to meet project scope
- Review code-related items and ensure compliance
- Edit and develop basis-of-design narratives documenting project scope
- Write new specification sections and develop project-specific details
- Write studies and reports for project systems
- Apply and modify controls diagrams
- Modify sequences of operation for air- and water-side equipment and systems
- Evaluate contractor pricing and cost estimates
- Travel to project sites to review work progress and resolve problems within time and budget
- Develop and monitor work plans
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of pump and piping design experience
- Registered Professional Engineer preferred
- 3D modeling experience considered an asset
