About the role
- Project Engineer / Electrical Engineer leading building-project electrical design for EXP, an engineering and consulting services firm. Preparing lighting, fire alarm, grounding, and contract documentation.
Responsibilities
- Act as electrical technical lead on building projects across educational, institutional, healthcare, and other sectors
- Act as Professional Engineer on Record for the electrical scope
- Lead or support project meetings and project coordination meetings with internal teams, external consultants, owners, and contractors
- Prepare detailed electrical system designs using AutoCAD and REVIT
- Perform voltage drop, photometric, conductor and conduit sizing, and grounding calculations
- Conduct interior and exterior lighting analysis using AGi32 and/or Visual
- Prepare emergency lighting and exit signage layouts based on OBC requirements
- Design grounding and lightning protection layouts
- Design electrical layouts for cable raceways, underground conduits, lighting, panel schedules, lighting poles and bases, luminaire schedules, and electrical grounding
- Design fire alarm systems according to OBC and CSA standards
- Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, civil, structural, and architectural disciplines
- Coordinate electrical requirements with access control and security system vendors
- Prepare contract documents, specifications, and cost estimates
- Perform site visits, prepare site visit reports, respond to contractor RFIs, and review shop drawings
Requirements
- Engineering degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited university
- P.Eng is required
- Minimum 5 years of continuous experience in detailed design and design consultancy
- Knowledge of IES-RP-8, roadway lighting, and parking lot lighting
- Experience with advanced lighting design tools, including AGi32 and Visual
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with AutoCAD and REVIT
- Knowledge of OESC, CSA, OBC, NFPA, and IEEE standards
