About the role

Responsibilities
- Perform calculations, structural analyses, and structural design of railway or highway structures in accordance with applicable standards, codes, and regulations.
- Participate in the delivery and design of railway or highway structures projects alongside a team of technicians and professionals.
- Prepare drawings and specifications for the design and rehabilitation of railway or highway structures.
- Prepare cost estimates based on quantity takeoffs and selected solutions.
- Conduct engineering studies for the construction and rehabilitation of steel, concrete, and timber structures.
- Perform field damage assessments and other required expert inspections.
- Contribute to the development of the team’s railway engineering expertise.
- Provide support to the designer during the construction phases.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues, clients, contractor partners, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Share knowledge and experience with the team.
- Serve as, or develop into, a technical reference.
- Perform any other duties related to the position.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in bridges and railway structures.
- Be a licensed member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
- Proficiency in codes and technologies related to the design of structures.
- Excellent technical knowledge of bridge and structure design.
- Experience designing steel, reinforced-concrete, and prestressed-concrete structures.
- Knowledge of modeling and design software such as Advance Design America, SAFI, SAP, CSI Bridges, Midas, L-Pile, ShapeBuilder, Mathcad, and Microsoft Suite.
- Knowledge of AREMA documents, Transport Canada regulations, and Federal Railroad Administration requirements.
