Responsibilities
- Lead and conduct complex IT audits from start to finish as the engagement lead
- Perform audit work in complex and high-risk areas, including risk assessment, control evaluation, testing of key processes, and development of conclusions
- Define the scope and approach for audits focused on critical and emerging technology risks
- Guide, review, and challenge the audit work of experienced team members
- Develop clear, useful audit findings describing root causes, risk implications, and opportunities for improvement
- Prepare and present reports, summaries, and presentations to senior management and the Audit Committee
- Serve as the audit point of contact for director- and vice-president-level stakeholders
- Communicate audit objectives, emerging issues, and findings with credibility and clarity
- Incorporate emerging risks, regulatory expectations, and industry best practices
- Identify common themes and systemic issues to inform discussions about IT risk
- Promote continuous improvement, including through data analysis and advanced audit techniques
- Enhance audit quality and capability through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and setting expectations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, engineering, or equivalent relevant experience
- Professional certifications (CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT, CISA) are a strong asset
- At least 8–10 years of relevant experience in IT audit, IT risk management, cybersecurity, technology governance, or technology assurance
- Proven experience leading audits and managing stakeholders at various levels
- Excellent knowledge of modern IT environments, including cloud, identity, networks, endpoint security, data platforms, and agile delivery
- Practical knowledge of frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, CIS Controls, COBIT, ISO 2700x) and compliance with IIA standards
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical risks into clear, actionable information for decision-making
- Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Deep expertise in one or more areas: cybersecurity, cloud security, identity, data governance, third-party risk, or technology resilience
- Proficiency with data analytics tools and techniques: Power BI, ACL/HighBond, IDEA, Python, SQL
- Practical experience with generative AI use cases for auditing, supported by appropriate governance
- Fluency in both official languages
- Ability to work legally in Canada at the time of application (Canadian citizens or permanent residents preferred)
- Ability to meet government security requirements
