About the role

  • Senior Sustainability Advisor advancing Export Development Canada’s Climate Action Plan and sustainable finance initiatives. Integrating climate considerations into business practices, portfolio risk management, and client capacity building.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support implementation of EDC’s Climate Action Plan through expert research, analysis, advice, cross-team coordination and engagement
  • Engage with teams across the organization to advance climate and sustainable finance initiatives
  • Advance sustainable and climate finance initiatives, including product and engagement idea generation and direct engagement with lines of business
  • Further integrate climate finance into EDC’s practices
  • Advance EDC’s portfolio climate risk management
  • Advance client climate-capacity-building efforts, including engagement and value-creation opportunities
  • Liaise with external consultants and coordinate their efforts to meet EDC’s requirements
  • Monitor emerging ESG trends
  • Conduct research and analysis and convert insights into tangible deliverables supporting the Climate Action Plan
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders and report to the Director, Climate & Sustainable Finance in the Sustainability Group

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in environmental studies, law, engineering, business or science, including climate change science
  • Minimum of 7-8 years of financial services experience and/or experience working in the sustainability space
  • Demonstrated experience at the intersection of climate change and financial services
  • Experience with program development, implementation and/or training
  • Ability to align and adjust milestones and targets to maintain forward momentum
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Effective business writing skills
  • Ability to work legally in Canada at the time of application; Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents preferred
  • Must meet requisite government security screening requirements
