About the role

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate investment opportunities in mining, metals, critical minerals, and related infrastructure
  • Develop detailed financial models, conduct valuation and credit analyses, and assess investment returns or debt capacity
  • Conduct research on industries, markets, and companies, including comparable company and precedent transaction analyses
  • Lead or support due diligence by coordinating and reviewing the work of external technical, commercial, environmental, social, legal, and tax advisors
  • Assess risks, value drivers, expected returns, and debt capacity
  • Support transactions from end to end, from due diligence through closing
  • Prepare investment and credit memoranda, approval documents, and presentations for decision-making committees
  • Contribute to transaction structuring, negotiation of commercial terms, and coordination with counterparties, advisors, and stakeholders
  • Monitor portfolio performance, emerging risks, and value-creation opportunities
  • Participate in portfolio reporting and investment reviews
  • Track developments in the mining, metals, and critical minerals markets, policies, and industries
  • Build relationships with investors, industry participants, advisors, and other stakeholders
  • Contribute to business development by identifying new opportunities and maintaining industry relationships

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, business administration, economics, engineering, geology, or another relevant discipline
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in investment banking, project finance, commercial banking, private equity, infrastructure investing, corporate development, consulting, or a related field
  • Experience evaluating, structuring, or executing financing and investment transactions
  • Strong financial analysis, valuation, and modeling skills
  • Ability to build and analyze detailed cash flow models and assess investment returns
  • Excellent understanding of financial statements, capital markets, credit analysis, and investment fundamentals
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Strong analytical and strategic-thinking skills, sound judgment, and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a high-performance environment, with demonstrated leadership capabilities
  • Awareness of inclusion-related issues and ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application; preference will be given to Canadian citizens or permanent residents
  • Must meet government security requirements
