About the role

  • Human Resources Manager advising leaders, developing talent, and driving organizational change at Canada's largest Caterpillar dealer. Based in Edmonton or Calgary.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic HR advisor to business leaders and executives
  • Partner with operations leaders to understand business priorities and translate them into actionable people strategies
  • Collaborate on workforce planning, succession planning, talent management, employee engagement, and leadership development
  • Partner with HR Centres of Excellence to implement programs, policies, and initiatives
  • Anticipate business needs and develop proactive HR solutions
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation, labour regulations, and corporate policies
  • Identify organizational needs and develop strategies that build organizational capability
  • Support succession planning, leadership development, career development, and high-potential talent identification
  • Lead and facilitate organizational change initiatives supporting business transformation and growth
  • Develop and implement policies, programs, and practices aligned with business objectives
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on engagement, accountability, continuous improvement, and inclusion
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of HR Business Partners
  • Provide guidance on employee relations, labour relations, talent acquisition, performance management, total rewards, ability management, and workforce planning
  • Lead HR projects and initiatives, ensuring execution, resource management, and measurable outcomes
  • Provide direction and support in labour relations matters, including grievance and arbitration processes
  • Support delivery of compensation planning, performance management, talent review, and succession planning programs
  • Lead implementation and administration of HR programs across assigned business units
  • Develop communication and education strategies to drive adoption of HR initiatives
  • Identify opportunities for HR program enhancements and continuous improvement
  • Conduct and oversee complex workplace investigations and employee relations matters

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Business, or a related discipline
  • CPHR designation or actively maintained equivalent HR designation
  • 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience within complex organizations
  • Minimum 5 years of people leadership experience
  • Proven success partnering with senior leaders and executives in a strategic HR advisory capacity
  • Demonstrated experience leading organizational change initiatives and HR projects
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian labour and employment legislation
  • Strong business acumen and ability to align HR strategies to organizational goals
  • Exceptional relationship-building, influencing, communication, and consulting skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and influence stakeholders at all organizational levels
  • Proven leadership experience with a collaborative, coaching-oriented approach
  • Strong conflict resolution, negotiation, and alternative dispute resolution skills
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity while maintaining focus and delivering results
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive
  • Experience working with HRIS platforms
  • Experience supporting operations, manufacturing, industrial, energy, oilfield, or heavy equipment environments preferred
  • Experience in unionized environments, including grievance and arbitration processes preferred
  • Knowledge of disability management, return-to-work programs, WCB, STD, and LTD administration preferred
  • Understanding of Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies preferred
