About the role

  • Technician 3 responsible for pipeline inspection and corrosion control for FortisBC in Kamloops. Inspecting cathodic protection systems and collaborating with external contractors for compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the inspection of pipelines for corrosion and wear
  • Travels across the province to monitor and test cathodic protection systems
  • Develops plans according to standard specifications
  • Inspects installations to ensure compliance with contract specifications
  • Co-ordinates delivery of materials and work with external contractors
  • Compares and analyzes cathodic protection measurements
  • Utilizes specialized equipment for assessments
  • Investigates and analyzes electrical interference sources
  • Prepares reports of findings
  • Inputs, extracts, and maintains data from management systems
  • Acts as a representative of FortisBC in customer queries

Requirements

  • Recognized as a Certified Cathodic Protection Technician (CP2) by N.A.C.E.
  • Successful completion of Coating Inspection Program Level 2
  • Seven (7) years directly related experience
  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards
  • Working knowledge of the design, maintenance and operation of cathodic protection systems
  • Ability to type 40 WPM
  • Valid BC Drivers License including a safe driving record
