About the role
- Lead electrical applications engineer developing high-voltage substation and grid solutions for GE Vernova. Preparing technical proposals, cost estimates, and EPC project bids.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical point of contact throughout the Inquiry to Order (ITO) phase
- Develop technical solutions for high-voltage substations, including grid engineering and design
- Ensure the accuracy of technical proposals, including specifications, single-line diagrams, physical layouts, load sizing, clarifications, exceptions, deliverables, scopes of work, bills of materials, and cost estimates
- Perform basic high-voltage substation studies
- Provide technical support for subcontractor and power equipment bid packages
- Support commercial teams with customer presentations
- Develop methodologies, templates, and libraries to improve the accuracy and efficiency of cost estimates
- Write technical specifications and collaborate with project managers, sourcing teams, proposal managers, application engineers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Prepare engineering, procurement, and construction estimates for substation, protection and control, systems and communications, balance-of-plant (BOP), FACTS, and HVDC projects
- Deliver technically sound, compliant, effective, and cost-competitive proposals while reducing performance risk
- Contribute to winning bid strategies through an understanding of market conditions and customer economics
- Build consensus and influence stakeholders on technical topics
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent technical degree
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in substation/electrical design, studies, specifications, estimating, and construction for substation, transmission, or power generation projects
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in technical proposal writing and proposal management
- Availability to travel up to 20%, potentially including international travel
- Fluency in spoken and written French and English; bilingual French/English proficiency required
- Knowledge of high-voltage substations, power transmission and distribution systems, protection devices, SCADA, communications, testing, commissioning, and maintenance
- Knowledge of and experience applying CSA, IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, NEMA, and IEC standards and codes
- P.Eng. or PE license in the United States or Canada preferred
