About the role

  • Senior technical advisor delivering GE nuclear steam turbine outage services at Darlington Nuclear Power Station. Managing customer-facing planning, execution, costs, schedules, risks, and project closeout.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the dedicated technical owner and primary customer contact for GE nuclear installed-base steam turbines, generators, and balance-of-plant components at Darlington Nuclear Power Station
  • Deliver safe, quality, on-time, and profitable outage services and upgrades
  • Act as SME for installation and maintenance services during the R process
  • Attend pre-proposal and negotiation meetings; develop scopes, schedules, loadboards, JCEs, tooling, quotes, parts, resources, and deliverables
  • Plan job sites and outages before mobilization
  • Generate JIS, labor, and specialty service requests
  • Coordinate design engineering, customer coordination, pre-site work, and LORaP workshops
  • Request internal and external purchase orders
  • Develop outage work-order task plans covering safety, equipment availability, parts, tooling, specialty services, and resources
  • Develop the EHS plan upon site mobilization before outage start
  • Develop and manage costs, estimates to completion, project schedules, payment milestones, and contingency plans
  • Manage project risks, opportunities, issues, scope changes, technical and financial authorization, and stakeholder communications
  • Resolve execution issues involving safety, HOP, quality, FME, NCRs, parts, product service, engineering, controls, and commercial matters
  • Provide accurate management reports for assigned projects
  • Provide project leadership and guidance from conception through delivery and conduct project feedback reviews
  • Complete project field service reports, ETC 127 engineering documentation, POR documents, project closeout, BP, lessons learned, and OE summaries
  • Maintain excellent customer and peer relationships
  • Perform other duties supporting the GEV vision and organizational values

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University or College OR a High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a customer-facing role OR an associate degree with a minimum of 15 years of experience in a customer-facing role
  • 5 additional years of experience in a customer-facing role in the power generation industries
  • Willingness and ability to relocate to Bowmanville, ON, and maintain daily site physical presence and interaction with the customer team
  • Willingness and ability to respond to customer issues regardless of day and time
  • Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access at a nuclear facility
  • Experience with Alstom steam turbine and generator maintenance
  • English proficiency required
  • BBC turbine experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM preferred
  • FEP graduate preferred for GEV employees only, or comparable experience in steam turbine and generator maintenance and/or installation
  • Knowledge and experience within the nuclear power environment/nuclear plant operations
  • Knowledge of steam turbine and generator design, operations, and maintenance
  • Experience planning and successfully executing outages
  • Strong project management acumen
  • Strong quality background with Lean and/or Black Belt certification
  • Familiarity with or ability to quickly learn P6, RPDM, MSOffice, Excel, and other software packages
  • Strong leadership, financial, commercial, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience establishing credibility and developing and maintaining relationships with challenging internal and external customers
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
