About the role

  • Junior CAD Technician updating and standardizing technical drawings using AutoCAD at GFL Environmental. Collaborating with engineers and project managers in a hands-on role.

Responsibilities

  • Update, modify, and standardize legacy mechanical and technical drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and East Coast contractors to adjust drawings according to live project specifications
  • Review technical data sheets and maintain strict CAD drafting standards
  • Manage project documentation, organize drawing archives, and assist with technical data management
  • Assist with operational tasks such as ordering parts, tracking Purchase Orders (POs), and processing project invoices
  • Maintain clear, proactive communication across multiple time zones

Requirements

  • Completed coursework, certificate, or diploma in Computer-Aided Design (AutoCAD) from a recognized institution (e.g., SAIT, Red Deer Polytechnic, or equivalent)
  • Hands-on experience using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor
  • Proficiency in standard office tools, including Google Suite and MS Office (Excel & Word)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A natural mechanical aptitude or practical background (e.g., farming, trades, hands-on mechanical hobbies) is an asset
  • A fresh perspective and a high level of motivation to streamline drafting workflows
