About the role
- Depot Technician handling and processing hazardous and non-hazardous waste at GFL facilities. Operating equipment, loading trucks, completing safety paperwork, and maintaining a safe workplace.
Responsibilities
- Handle, consolidate, and process hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials received by Processing Facilities
- Process waste in a timely and safe manner
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks and containers
- Verify incoming waste conforms with acceptance protocol
- Operate processing machinery and equipment as required
- Follow safe operation procedures at all times
- Complete and submit paperwork properly
- Complete job hazard risk assessments
- Promote a safety culture among employees
- Provide superior customer service
- Perform general shop cleanup and maintenance
- Complete other miscellaneous tasks as required
- Work Thursday through Monday from 8:15 am to 4:45 pm, with Sunday hours from 8:15 am to 3:45 pm
Requirements
- Ability to perform moderately labour intensive and repetitious tasks
- Physically fit and able to lift more than 50 lbs and stand on cement for extended periods
- Excellent communication skills
- Planning and organizational skills
- Ability to analyze and solve problems
- Able to work independently and in a team environment
- Valid work authorization in Canada is required
- Must provide valid documentation confirming eligibility to work in Canada before starting
