Industrial waste driver transporting hazardous materials and operating specialized trucks for GFL Environmental in Ontario. Performing loading, unloading, inspections, hydro-blasting, and customer deliveries.
Responsibilities
Transport, remove, deliver, and collect liquid and solid hazardous wastes from customer sites
Load and unload trucks
Operate vacuum trucks, box trucks, and other equipment permitted by the driver's license
Perform high-pressure water blasting at 15,000–40,000 psi
Oversee cargo handling and secure loads
Prepare equipment and apply safe operating practices
Perform trip inspections and verify equipment safety and roadworthiness
Comply with legislation covering safe operation, dangerous goods, hours of service, occupational health and safety, customs and immigration, and weights and dimensions
Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions
Check mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment before driving
Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, and vehicle damage
Verify load-related documentation, including driver logbooks, bills of lading, and manifests
Maintain working-hours logs and vehicle service and repair records
Perform inspections before, during, and after delivery to ensure loads are secure
Deliver products and paperwork to customers courteously and on time
Clean debris caused by loading and unloading
Provide supervisors with feedback on customer, mechanical, and delivery problems
Train others when required
Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
Certification from recognized Truck Driving School
Valid Commercial Driver's license with manual transmission
Ability or willingness to perform high-pressure water-blasting between 15,000–40,000 psi
Familiarity and experience working with government documents such as manifests
Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance
Demonstrated organizational skills and strong oral and written communication abilities
Exceptional organizational abilities, including task prioritization, multitasking, timelines, and time management
High level of personal integrity
Strong work ethic
Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Confident, consistent, decisive personality
Willingness to work indoors and outdoors
Manual dexterity and ability to lift 75+ lbs
Must have valid work authorization in Canada; GFL does not provide visa sponsorship
