Environmental Engineer/Scientist managing contamination assessment, remediation, and hydrogeological projects for GHD. Preparing technical documents, overseeing field investigations, and mentoring junior staff in Ontario.
Responsibilities
Prepare project-related technical documents, including environmental reports, technical specifications, work plans, cost estimates, and drawings
Manage and oversee environmental investigations and remediation activities
Conduct site investigations, contractor management, drilling, soil sampling, well installation, groundwater sampling, excavation, contract administration, and vapour sampling
Work on Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments, environmental monitoring, and soil/groundwater management projects
Coordinate and schedule project-related work with GHD staff, external contractors, and public entities
Obtain project permits
Mentor and support junior staff in field activities, reporting, and technical skill development
Support brownfield redevelopment, hydrogeological investigations and assessments, environmental services, and long-term operation, maintenance, and monitoring of remedial systems and risk management measures
Requirements
Relevant Bachelor of Environmental/Civil Engineering or Environmental Science degree, or equivalent
4–10 years of experience in the environmental field
Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo) designation is an asset
Fundamental knowledge of, or strong interest in developing skills related to, contaminated site assessment and remediation
Knowledge of hydrogeological investigations, contaminant migration analysis, and environmental due diligence
Knowledge of Ontario regulatory frameworks including O. Reg. 153/04 and O. Reg. 406/19
Ability to manage multiple tasks with a high degree of attention to detail
Flexibility with project types and responsibilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences
Ability to work as part of a team and be highly communicative
Ability to manage your schedule
Valid G-class driver's licence
